“Unfortunately, there are people in some vehicles who have died,” said Spanish Transport Minister Oscar Puente, referring to hundreds of cars and trucks stuck on mud-covered roads.

The Minister of Transport, Oscar Puente, also spoke about the serious damage caused by the hurricane and floods, all of which devastated the Valencian Community, as well as areas of Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia. The Minister recalled that Valencia's suburban network was “deeply affected”: 80 kilometers of the network have been completely destroyed.It is too early to say when the trains connecting the Spanish capital with intermediate points between the two cities will resume, the ministry explained.
