More than 100 violations in 2 hours: what is happening in the presidential elections in Moldova

Promo-LEX observers recorded numerous violations at polling stations during the second round of the presidential election in Moldova. Among the violations were untimely opening of polling stations, campaigning and photographing of ballots.
In Moldova, observers of the organization Promo-LEX reported 109 violations in the first two hours after the opening of polling stations in the second round of the presidential election. This was reported by UNN with reference to NewsMaker.
Details
In particular, a case of organized transportation of voters was recorded at a polling station in Istanbul, Turkey.
62 polling stations opened with a delay or earlier than planned, while 87 did not provide a solemn opening with the national anthem and the state flag. Nevertheless, the work of election commissions was assessed as “good” and “very good” in 98.9% of cases.
The main recorded incidents:
- Posters and other campaign materials at a distance of less than 100 meters from the polling station - 4 cases;
- Campaigning at a distance of less than 100 meters from the polling station - 1 case;
- Unjustified presence of unauthorized persons at the polling station - 3 cases;
- Violation of voting secrecy (photos of ballots) - 5 cases.
Recall
Today, November 3, the second round of the presidential electionis taking place in Moldova. The incumbent President Maia Sandu and former Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo are running in the runoff.
Meanwhile, the Moldovan government appealed to the EU countries regarding possible interference by Russia in voting at foreign polling stations.
