Russia has not yet formed  a mixed medical commission to visit prisoners of war. This was reported by the representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War  Petro Yatsenko during a press conference, UNN reports.

Back in the summer of 2023, a mixed medical commission was established on the Ukrainian side to visit prisoners of war and determine their  health condition, which does not allow them to be held in detention conditions, prisoner of war camps.  A similar commission was supposed to be established in Russia in accordance with the agreements signed by the aggressor country under the Third Geneva Convention. We cooperated on this issue with the Red Cross Committee

However, according to him, the second important part of mixed medical commissions is still missing - a similar commission in Russia.

the Russian side has done nothing so far, more than a year after the establishment of the mixed medical commission on the Ukrainian side

AddendumAddendum

In the summer of 2023, Ukraine, in accordance with the Third Geneva Convention, established a mixed medical commission, a body consisting of two doctors from a neutral country and a representative of the country holding the prisoners of war. The task of mixed medical commissions is to inspect the health of prisoners and send seriously ill and severely wounded prisoners under the care of a third country or repatriate them to their country of origin.

In January 2023, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets , reportedthat he had discussed with the Russian Ombudsman, Tatyana Moskalkova, the possible return of seriously wounded servicemen and prisoners of war from both sides. This procedure is called repatriation. It is clearly spelled out in the Geneva Convention. Article 110. He explained that repatriation is not an exchange. It is the return of wounded, seriously wounded prisoners of war without any conditions, without reference to the number.
