"Ukraine is approaching a critical moment": Yermak hopes US will approve aid this month

It is necessary for the US Congress to pass a $60 billion aid package for Kyiv this month, as Ukraine is approaching a "critical moment," said Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, in an interview with Politico on Thursday evening, UNN reports. 

Asked whether he feared Donald Trump's re-election or that the $60 billion aid package for Ukraine would not eventually be passed by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, Yermak said he could not believe that Republicans would forget Reagan's presidency in 1981-1989 and his Cold War crusade against Moscow's "evil empire.

"I do not believe that anyone who represents the party of Ronald Reagan will abandon Ukraine. Reagan understood the Soviet Union and Russia, and everyone who understands will continue to support our fighters because they understand that dictators never stop voluntarily and must be stopped," Yermak said.

Yermak is confident that the US will eventually approve the aid. He does not know when this will happen, but insists that it should happen soon.

 "So far, it's costing us lives, and I really hope that the aid will be accepted this month, because Ukraine is approaching a critical moment," he said.

Last week, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson . The Head of State emphasized that prompt approval of the aid for Ukraine by the Congress is critically important.
