President of Ukraine Zelensky signs a decree on Ukraine's withdrawal from the CIS agreement on social and legal guarantees for military personnel.

Ukraine has withdrawn from the Agreement between the CIS member states on social and legal guarantees for for military personnel. The relevant decree was signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, UNN reports with reference to the President's website.

Zelensky signed Decree No. 789/2023 "On Ukraine's withdrawal from the Agreement between the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States on social and and Legal Guarantees for Servicemen and Women Discharged from Military Service and and Members of Their Families and the Protocol to the Agreement between the Member States of the of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Social and Legal Guarantees for Servicemen and Women Discharged from Military Service and Members of Their Families".

According to paragraph 3 part one of Article 106 of the Constitution of Ukraine, guided by the provisions of Article 62 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties, the President has decided:

1.   To withdraw from the Agreement between the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Social and Legal Guarantees for Servicemen and Women Discharged from Military Service and Members of Their and Members of Their Families, signed in Minsk on February 14, 1992.

2.   Withdraw from the Protocol to the Agreement between Ukraine and the from the Protocol to the Agreement between the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Social and Legal Guarantees for Servicemen and Women Discharged from Military Service and Members of Their and Members of Their Families, signed on January 19, 1996 in Moscow. [On January 12, the Verkhovna Rada decided to withdraw from two agreements with CIS countries.
