Canada is preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia over the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children and other civilians from the temporarily occupied territories. This was announced by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, UNN reports.
"Canada is preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia over the deportation of Ukrainian children and other civilians by the aggressor country. This is one of the outcomes of the Ministerial Conference in Montreal. The new package of sanctions was announced by Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly," Lubinets wrote.
He noted that the imposition of sanctions is one of the methods of pressure on Russia.
"At the same time, we need sanctions not only against the country itself, but also against individual officials involved in the deportation of children and the illegal abduction of civilians," emphasized Lubinets.
Commenting on Joly's statement on sanctions, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratyuk noted that by persuading Western colleagues to adopt parliamentary resolutions condemning the criminal actions of the Russian Federation in abducting Ukrainian children, Ukraine raises the issue of imposing personal sanctions against all those involved in their abduction, illegal displacement, forced adoption, unjustified delays in repatriating children, and attempts to change their identity.
"We are talking about hundreds of Russian officials and other 'figures' involved in this terrible Russian state system," Kondratyuk wrote on Facebook.
