Poroshenko is promoting the Armed Forces at the expense of unpaid taxes - military

The leader of the European Solidarity faction, Petro Poroshenko, is promoting the Armed Forces of Ukraine with money he received from securities purchased for unpaid taxes in Ukraine. Political expert and Ukrainian military officer Kyrylo Sazonov writes about this, UNN reports.

"Foreign and Ukrainian companies owned by Poroshenko and his family form pools of assets at the expense of unpaid taxes in Ukraine, and these assets are legalized by purchasing state and foreign securities that accrue interest," Sazonov writes.

According to the expert, Poroshenko mainly buys domestic government bonds. In fact, this is money that citizens lend to the state so that it can support the economy and finance the army. The state repays these loans with interest. It is these funds, according to Sazonov, that go to Poroshenko's "charity".

"Poroshenko uses this interest for his 'charitable' or rather PR projects. That is, with a high degree of probability, Poroshenko could have bought all these drones (or a significant part of them), carriages, REBs, etc. for the interest accrued by the state on government bonds, which he purchased with taxes he did not pay to the same state," Sazonov said.

Sazonov emphasizes that it could be about UAH 2.5 billion. That is, more than half of the "charitable expenses" reported by the Poroshenko Foundation a year ago. Also, Poroshenko buys bonds through his own International Investment Bank, which earns millions of hryvnias in commission from its owner's charity.

As previously reported, in the first month of the fall of 2024 alone, Poroshenko enriched himself by a billion hryvnias. This is 125 times more than the oligarch earned a year before Russia's invasion. Also, in the second year of the war (2023), Poroshenko's wealth increased by $224 million. Thus, he became one of the three richest Ukrainians with a net worth of about $1 billion, slightly behind Akhmetov and Pinchuk. The main sources of Poroshenko's income are interest and dividends from securities, which were mostly purchased with funds withdrawn from Ukraine and income from a "blind trust.
