SBU serves suspicion notice to russian general who led repressions in captured Lyman

The Security Service of Ukraine served a notice of suspicion to lieutenant general yevgeny poplavsky, deputy commander of the troops of russia's central military district, who personally led the repression of Ukrainians during the capture of Lyman. This was reported by UNN, citing the SBU's Telegram page.

The Security Service has collected evidence against Russian Lieutenant General Yevgeny Poplavsky, the deputy commander of Russia's Central Military District, who committed war crimes in Ukraine

According to the investigation, which was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General Prosecutor General's Office, the defendant, after the capture of the Lyman in Donetsk region, personally led repressions against local members of the resistance movement. On the orders of general poplavsky the occupiers abducted Ukrainian patriots and subjected them to numerous tortures.

In particular, the following facts have been documented facts when the defendant personally participated in punitive actions and torture of of civilians.

It is indicated that on April 20 April 20, 2022, a russian general, together with four subordinates, broke into the the home of a local businessman and demanded that he hand over to hand over the warehouse for the needs of the occupiers. There, the invaders, according to the investigation, planned to shoot staged videos about the fake distribution of "humanitarian aid from russia."

However, the entrepreneur and his wife and his wife refused, which led the Russian general to order to lock the woman in the basement of her own house, and ordered her husband to be captured and to take her away with him.

The victim was taken to one of his warehouses. Before leaving, Poplavsky instructed his subordinate to throw a live grenade into the basement where the businessman's wife was imprisoned if her husband did not return in an hour

After arriving at the warehouse, the warehouse, the defendant put a gun to the victim's temple, forcing him to "thank the occupiers for their assistance" to local residents, after which the businessman agreed to the occupiers' terms.

Based on the the evidence collected, SBU investigators notified Poplavsky of suspicion under ч. 1 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (giving an order to commit actions aimed at violating the laws and customs of war). Since the offender is on the uncontrolled territory of Ukraine, comprehensive measures are being taken to to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
